Tall Giraffe Sandwich

~ Sandwich ~ Cheerios ~ Pretzel Stick ~ Raisin ~

Cut the leg part off of the bread (as shown below). Set legs aside.
Make a sandwich with the remaining large piece of bread.

Cut the rest of the sandwich up as diagrammed. Turn body piece sideways,
with crust facing downward, and arrange the rest of the pieces as shown.

The antler (is that what it is?) is a pretzel stick with a cheerio on the end,
and is stuck between the two pieces of bread.

Decorate with cheerios and a raisin for the eye (or whatever else you can think of!)

Okay, he kinda looks like a llama, too!

Polar Bear

~ Mashed Potatoes ~ Olives ~

Did you know that you can totally mold mashed potatoes when they cool a little bit?  Well, you can! Just mold the cooled mashed potatoes into a bear face and use half of an olive for the nose and slices of olive for the eyes.

Acorn Love

~ Hershey Kisses ~ Mini Nilla Wafers ~ Frosting ~

Put a small amount of frosting on the bottom of the Nilla Wafer, place the bottom of the Hershey Kiss to the frosting and add a dab of frosting to the top.

Super easy and adorable!!

Ugly Witch

~ Bread ~ Apple Butter ~ Cream Cheese ~
~ Choc Chips ~ Food Coloring ~

Cut a heart shape out of a slice of bread or a sandwich and spread green tinted cream cheese on it.  Take another sandwich, or slice of bread, and cut out the hat and nose, as shown:

Spread apple butter on the hat and cover the nose with the green tinted cream cheese. Put it all together as shown in the pic above.  Use regular choc chips for the eyes and miniature choc chips for the wart and mouth.

Can’t you hear her laugh?

ACORNS

~ Bread ~ Peanut Butter ~ Raisins ~ Cereal ~ Graham Craker ~

Cut a heart out of a piece of bread or a sandwich.  Spread peanut butter on top of the heart shape.  Use chocolate cereal for the top of the acorn.  I really wanted to use Apple Butter for the top of the acorn, to go along with the fall theme, but didn’t have any.  Oh well.  Use raisins for the eyes and mouth.  Break a small piece off of a graham cracker and use for the stem.

These cute acorns won’t last very long on the ground!!

Crocodile

~ Bread ~ Cream Cheese ~ Cucumbers ~

The crocodile was made of wholemeal bread with cream cheese spread and cucumber slices.  The eye was quite obvious, made up of a half piece cucumber and the pointed teeth were also of cut cucumber.

This is a great interactive snack idea to involve your kids in (even toddlers love to paint)! It’s also SUPER easy and quick to clean up.

PAINTED TOAST FISH

~ Bread ~ Milk (or water) ~ Food Coloring ~ Cookie Cutter ~

To make the paint: mix a tablespoon of milk with food coloring to achieve desired shade. I poured milk in a little cup, squeezed food coloring onto a paint brush and mixed it right in that way, with the brush – sooo easy to make and clean up. If you’re concerned about your toddler spilling this milk paint, use yogurt or pudding as paint instead.

Cut out bread with cutter (or leave uncut and just paint slices of bread – would be fun for school lunch sandwich messages).

Paint bread with brush.

Toast in toaster.

I smeared cream cheese for Nemo’s stripes on this example.

Use this technique for making toasted cheese sandwiches, too!

Birdie

~ Egg ~ Ham ~ Craisin ~

Sometimes you just don’t have time for cutting fancy shapes in bread and making sandwiches, but don’t let that stop you!

I made a quick fried egg for breakfast, and when I saw the shape when it was cooked, I thought of a bird, so I quickly added some wings, legs, and an eye.

Skulls and Bones

~ Pillsbury Dough ~ Raisins ~

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Use a can of Pillsbury Crescent Creations (dough without the seams). Roll the dough out and cut it in half.  Set half of it aside.  Cut one half of it into strips for the bones.  Next make slits in the top and bottom of the strips. Fold the center in together to make the bone thicker and roll the ends in as shown:

Place the ‘bones’ on a pizza stone or cookie sheet and set aside.

Take the other half of the dough and cut it into thirds.  Roll each section up into a ball and then pat out flat for the head.  Take a knife and cut an X for each eye and a slit for the mouth as shown:

Put a raisin in the eye sockets and 2 raisins in the mouth to keep them open while cooking. I initially did this for that reason, but ended up leaving them in.

Brush them with melted butter and then sprinkle them with whatever you want!! I used garlic powder and parmesan cheese. Put them in the oven about 15 min or until golden brown.

 I served them with Lasagna for dinner!
The family LOVED it!!

I like how the parmesan gave the bones a “dirty” look, like they were just unearthed!!
